Hunting in Wyoming through Restoring the Bond was more than just a getaway, it was a much-needed hard reset.
This was my first time hunting since retiring from service, and to be honest, I’d lost the love of it. Somewhere along the way, the connection to the outdoors and the purpose behind hunting had faded. This two-day experience completely changed that for me.
Being back in the wide-open Wyoming landscape, surrounded by 2 other veterans who get it, reminded me why I fell in love with the outdoors in the first place. The guide, the challenge, the talk, the shoot, the camaraderie — it restored something I didn’t even realize I was missing.
A huge thank you to Morgan Martinez, who absolutely refused to let me weasel out of the trip. I’m grateful he pushed me and kept reaching out, because this weekend reignited my passion for hunting and reminded me how powerful time in nature can be for the soul.
Restoring the Bond doesn’t just create experiences, they help veterans reconnect with themselves. I’ll always be thankful for that.
